She's the model that needs little
introduction. Tila Nguyen, aka Tila Tequila, became a household
name after her appearance on the cover of Stuff Magazine in
April of 2006. Better known as the "most popular person
on MySpace",
her ability to attract attention and controversy
has garnered her fans the world over.
Though modeling got her the worldwide attention she was craving, Tila wanted more. Now she focuses her attention on her budding music career. And after music? Read Tila's modFX interview below and find out.

A lot has happened
since our last interview with you. Can you tell us what you've
been up to?
Well, it's been 3 or 4
years ago since we last talked, and a lot has happened! I've
set some goals and dreams back then, and now I've accomplished
most of them. I'm finally doing my music, appeared on the
cover of Stuff Magazine and was also in Maxim, and Rolling
Stone. It's really exciting!
Let's rewind back 3 to 4 years ago when
you were modeling. Are you still doing that now?
I don't model as much anymore. I'm just trying to focus more
into my music now. That was my main reason I moved to L.A.
I used modeling as a vehicle to open doors to everything else
and build a fan base. That's all I do now since being in the
studio takes so much of your time, and I don't have much left
for modeling anymore. But if all my fans want modeling pictures,
I'll give it to them. (Ha Ha)
One of the biggest things you're known
for is your MySpace page. Do you approve all your friends
and messages yourself or do you have someone do it for you?
I do it myself. MySpace has really blown up these few years.
Being the most popular girl on MySpace is a big deal. Years
ago I would only have a fan base in the import industry, but
now I would have fans in London and Japan. It's kind of a
trip when someone sees you in a store and recognizes you from
MySpace.
How did you come up with your name?
Tila Tequila came from the 8th grade. My friends and I would
go out to drink for the first time. I ended up getting sick
and puking everywhere. The next day in school everyone started
making fun of me saying, "Hey! There's Tila Tequila"!
And that's where I got it from.
Speaking of old friends, have you ever
seen any of the ones from high school that used to bully you around?
Yeah, it's actually funny because a few of them would write
to me on MySpace saying that they're glad I'm doing well.
It's all good since I don't really dwell in the past. I wasn't
the perfect little angel anyway so I don't hold that against
anybody.
Looking back now on all your accomplishments,
what would you say is your most favorite experience?
Well, my dream was having a record deal, and being in the
position where you not only have just one but several labels
chasing after me to sign with them is really exciting. At
that moment you just think, "WOW"!
Tell us about the sound of your music?
When I first started, I was trying to figure out my sound.
So I started with a band to get a fan base and get things
going. After doing it for 6 years, you start to find out what
you like and what your sound is. So my stuff is really club
bangers and hits that make people wanna get on stage and become
a stripper! Ha ha!
What artist would you say your music
sounds similar to?
If Madonna did Hip Hop, that's what it would sound like.
When you write your songs, what are
they based on?
I haven't been in a relationship for 4 years, so I don't write
love songs. I write what is currently going on in my life.
When I go through changes, my songs do too. I basically want
people to get pumped with my music.
Where does this "Tila" energy
come from?
It's called Red Bull! Haha just kidding. It's from excitement,
repressed anger, fans who believe in me, people who bash on
me, all that stuff put together. I take negativity from haters
and turn that into something positive! I channel all that
into my performances.
When we did our last interview, I ended
with a question, "Where do you see yourself in 5 years",
you said that you wanted to be a MILF. What about now?
Ha ha!! I could've been a MILF many times over, but since
it's so early in my career, I don't have time to have kids.
Ask me 10 years from now!
Are you openly bi-sexual?
I'm not prejudiced. I see everyone as people not gender. If
you're a really cool chick and a dope person, I'll be naturally
drawn to that. It goes same with the guys. Either way... here's
a hole to put stuff in it! Ha ha!
Being in the limelight, people say it's
hard to find quality relationships. Do you find that true?
It's true to an extent. In this industry, it's hard to find
someone who understands your lifestyle and trusts you. Some
people are intimidated with my lifestyle, so that's why I've
been single for awhile. I'm still looking for that right person.
What would be the craziest thing you've ever done?
I did something that most models haven't done. One time
I asked my hairdresser to shave my head and give me a mohawk.
I was so angry that people were saying that I used my looks
to get where I am. So I proved them wrong and still got on
the cover of magazines!
How did it feel when you saw yourself on the cover of Stuff
Magazine on the newsstands?
It was really cool to see your dreams coming to life!
When I see that it makes me feel that I can accomplish anything.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I see myself having 80 million dollars! Just kidding! I want
to give back to community and do things that are more meaningful.
Things like that really drive me. It's such a great feeling
knowing that I changed the world somehow because of me. That's
much more empowering to me than being on magazines.
When will your debut album release?
It should come out in the end of February. So check it out
and see me at my shows 'cause you know I'll bring it! And
you can see more of me at TilasHotSpot.com.
